Duane Henry Nagel, the son of Herman and Zipora (Braunschweig) Nagel, was born January 21, 1952 in Hartley, Iowa. Duane grew up on a farm at Hartley, Iowa where he attended the Hartley Community School graduating in 1970. During his school years he enjoyed playing football. Duane continued his education at Spencer School of Business for two years. Following his schooling, he moved to Spencer, where he worked at Iowa Veneers for 4 years until beginning his career at Eaton Corporation in 1975, retiring after 33 1/2 years. Duane was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hartley, Iowa.
Duane married Priscilla Simons, love of his life and soul mate, on May 24, 1980. They made their home in Spencer with their family. Duane is a member of First English Church in Spencer and has served on the Board of Trustees and the ushering team. He has been involved in many various missions for the church. He was very active in the building of the Iowa Great Lakes Lutheran School. Duane was an active member of the Clay County Pals for fourteen years and a member of the Iowa Great Lakes Road Runner Motorcycle Club. During his time at Eaton, Duane was known as 'The Coffee Man' because it was his joy to make daily coffee for all those at the plant. Duane's passion in life was always to help others in various ways.
Duane enjoyed motorcycling, golfing, camping, gardening, and fishing. He loved attending sporting events especially the Spencer Tigers and watching Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed traveling with his family to Cancun, Mexico as well as motorcycling with Priscilla. Duane's biggest joy was spending time with family and especially with his grandchildren.
Duane passed away peacefully at the age of 64 on Saturday, October 8 at his home with Priscilla at his side and feeling all of the love of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; Herman and Zipora Nagel, his in-laws, Howard and Helene Simons and his nephews, Michael Simons and Luke Simons.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Priscilla of Spencer; sons: Robert Rausch of Hartley, Iowa and Gregory Rausch (Rachelle) of Pine, Colorado; daughters: Tracey Nagel (friend, Anna) of Mound, Minnesota and Leslie Nagel of St. Paul, Minnesota. Three grandchildren: Matthew Nagel of Hawaii, Anastasia and Hunter Rausch of Pine, Colorado. Two brothers: Dennis Nagel of Milford, Iowa and Douglas (Beverly) of Hartley, Iowa. Many other relatives and friends. Duane's faith has been a great inspiration to others and he will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
