Dwight Joe Geerdes

Dwight Joe Geerdes, the son of Edwin and Ellen Hirt Geerdes, was born January 5, 1957, in Everly, Iowa. Joe was baptized and confirmed at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. He received his early education and graduated from the Everly High School in 1975. Joe continued his education at Iowa State University with a degree in Animal Science in 1979. Following his education, Joe worked for a short period of time in Buffalo City before moving back to farm in the Everly area. Joe farmed until 2006 when he sold out to the Bockman Family and worked for them presently. In his spare time, Joe was an avid snowmobiler, he enjoyed going to the Lakes and especially loved time with his nieces and nephews. Joe passed away on August 24, 2014 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 57. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Barbara Geerdes. He is survived by his parents, Edwin and Ellen Geerdes of Spencer; his brothers: Dale of Spencer, IA, Doug and his wife, Kathy and John and his wife, Karen all of Everly, IA and Dean and his wife, Peg of Plano, TX; 12 nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
