Earl Fredrick Kooker

Earl Fredrick Kooker was born on November 27th, 1933 to Kenneth and Lenora Kooker. His childhood years were spent in Des Moines, Iowa with his younger brothers, Jack and John. In 1946, the family moved to Moville, Iowa. Earl met the love of his life in Moville. He married Shirley Ann Raby on May 21st, 1955. Together they moved to Ames, Iowa where Earl attended Iowa State University. He continued his education at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa. Earl and Shirley eventually moved to Spencer, Iowa where they raised their children. Earl established his business, Kooker and Associates, a design consulting firm in Spencer. Most of his architectural projects involved the design of financial institutions across the states of Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota and Nebraska. Some of his local building design projects include: Northwest Bank, TelcoTriad, The State Bank, and the Lost Island Nature Center. Family activities were a big part of Earl's life. He loved to teach his children to enjoy the out of doors. Together, they spent summers on the waters of Okoboji and on the lakes of Minnesota; swimming, camping, boating and fishing. After retiring in 2004, he and Shirley enjoyed traveling to watch the grandchildren in their school and athletic activities. Earl passed away on February 6th, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Lenora Kooker and his brother John. Left to cherish his life is his wife, Shirley of Spencer; His children: Rick and Sammy Kooker of Denver, Colorado; Greg and Vicki Kooker of Ankeny, Iowa; Mike and Mary Kooker of Pella, Iowa; Ross and Beth Brockshus of Spencer; Todd and Shanna Kooker of Spencer; his son/nephew, Joe Kooker of Monroe, Iowa; his grandchildren: Brian Kooker, Madison Kooker, Isaac Brockshus, Samuel Brockshus, Chloe Brockshus, Colton Kooker, Mc Kenna Kooker, Nathan Kooker, Megan Kooker, Chase Kooker, Blake Kooker, Zachary Kooker and Payton Kooker; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sally Kooker of Storm Lake, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
