Earl Vincent Peterson, long time resident of Peterson, IA, passed away and went to be with his Lord Jesus on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Earl was active, along with his wife, Jean of 63 years, with a number of organizations in the local area. These included the Maple Grove and First Congregational Church, the Peterson Historical Society, and Lion’s Club.
Earl was born in Sioux City, IA on October 3, 1932. His childhood years were spent in the Sioux City area where he attended school and graduated from Sioux City East. Earl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He flew on the C54 and the C124 Globe Master and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1954.
Earl married Jean Squires on September 30, 1955 in Sioux City, IA. During his time in Spencer, IA and the last 46 years in Peterson, IA, he worked for and retired from Burroughs Corporation. He met many lifelong friends and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved living in Peterson and spent every morning he could in the coffee shop.
Earl passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul, and one sister, Marie Smith.
Left to cherish his memory, are his wife Jean of Peterson, IA; 3 children, David (Krista) Peterson of Syracuse, NY, Mark (Sheila) Peterson of Orlando, FL, and Donna (Charlie) Geer of Colorado Springs, CO; 9 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives; and many friends. He will be sorely missed.
