Edward William Zenkovich, the son of Vincent and Marie (Nanek) Zenkovich, was born on May 15, 1926 in Sioux City, IA. His childhood years were spent In Sioux City where he received his education and graduated from East High School. Edward entered into the military on August 21, 1944, serving in the U.S. Army. While in the military he served overseas and was involved in the Battle of The Bulge. He received two Bronze Battle Stars, two Overseas Service Bars, Army of Occupation Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on June 23, 1946. Following the military he returned to Sioux City, where he worked as a meat inspector. He then worked for the Federal Government as a livestock inspector for the Sioux City Stockyards.
Edward married Carla Freking on May 6, 1961 in Sioux City, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Sioux City until 1974, when he was transferred to Spencer and worked until his retirement in 1990. Edward was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also liked to fish and go have coffee with his wife at Hy-Vee. Edward loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Edward passed away at the Spencer Hospital on June 4, 2008, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Thomas in 2005.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carla of Spencer, IA; four children and their spouses: Joseph Zenkovich and his wife, Denise of Spencer, IA, Terri Ward and her husband, Al of Spencer, IA, Mary Hughes and her husband, Matt of Fostoria, IA and Bob Zenkovich and his wife, Jaydi of Spencer, IA; 12 grandchildren; one brother, John Zenkovich and his wife, Marian of Sioux City, IA; daughter-in-law, Shannan Zenkovich of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 12:00 Noon on Friday, with the family present from 6:30 - 8:00p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
There will be a Vigil Service at 6:00p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
