Eldon James Biekert, the son of Herman and Magdeline Mulder Biekert, was born March 5, 1930 in Shell Rock, Iowa. He received his early education and graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1948. Eldon served in the United States Marines during the Korean War until his honorable discharge.
Eldon married Lavonne Gates on September 1, 1956 in Worthington, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Everly until moving to Spencer in 1967. For 45 years, Eldon worked at Harms Implement in Everly, Iowa as a mechanic. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Spencer. He enjoyed traveling, helping his son-in-law on the farm and spending time with his family.
Eldon passed away on April 6, 2008 at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Lavonne of Spencer; son, Brent Biekert and his wife, Rhonda of Spencer; daughter, Janelle Johnson and her husband, Barry of Terrill, IA; 3 grandchildren: Mark, Brian and Jacob Biekert; brother, Lyle Biekert and his wife Peggy of Boesman, MT; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Warner Funeral Chapel.
