Eleanor Julia Thill

Eleanor Julia Thill, the daughter of William Vincent and Veronica Eral Waters, was born July 9, 1936, in Cherokee, Iowa. She received her early education in Cherokee and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee. Following high school, Eleanor attended St. Joseph's in Sioux City where she graduated with a Registered Nurse Degree. She then worked in the Emergency Room in Sioux City. On June 17, 1961, Eleanor married Gene Thill at Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in several communities until settling in Spencer in 1983. Eleanor was a devoted mother; she embraced the opportunity to stay home to raise her 6 children. In her spare time, Eleanor played bridge, enjoyed reading and watching sports. She was also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Eleanor passed away on October 29, 2011 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 75. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Putizer; brother, Patrick Waters and her brother-in-law, Joseph Tankersley. She is survived by her husband, Gene of Spencer; her children: Joan (Frank) Tampone of Ashbury, NJ, Julia (Lou) Ambrose of Mendham, NJ, Daniel (Kathy) Thill of Westminster, CO, Jane Thill of Lee Summit, MO, Jeanine Rann of Lee Summit, MO and Janiece Thill of Cedar Falls, IA; 6 grandchildren: Joseph, Nicole and Courtney Tampone and Jessica, Michael and Matthew Thill; sister, Ann Tankersley of Portland, OR; 3 brothers: David (Ellen) Waters of Madisonville, KT, William (Mary) Waters of Little Rock, AR and John (JoAnn) Waters of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Ken Putizer of Storm Lake, IA; sister-in-law, Brenda Waters of Charlotte, VT; other relatives and friends.
