Eleanor Ruth Essick

Eleanor Ruth Essick, the daughter of Arthur and Mae Anderson Woodford, was born January 7, 1926 on a farm in Webb, Iowa. She received her early education from the Garfield School and graduated from Garfield Webb High School in 1943. Eleanor married Robert "Bob" Essick on December 3, 1943 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in rural Pocahontas. They then moved to Webb where they farmed. In 1973, they moved to Laurens where Eleanor worked in a dress shop and at the nursing home. In 1991, they moved to Spencer. In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed gardening, caring for Bob and she loved chickens. Most of all, Eleanor enjoyed family gatherings and visits from her grandchildren. Eleanor passed away on August 25, 2017 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings and spouses: Kenneth (Lois) Woodford, Dorothy (Ed) Weber, Vera (Clarence) Anderson and Mary (Leo) Alexander. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Peggy (Tom) Christian of Sioux Rapids, Patricia "Pat" (Troy) Hermstad of Sioux Rapids, and Donna (Darwyn) Dickmann of Hull; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sara (Monte) Fassler and their children, Rachel, Rebecca and Jayce; Karl (Andrea) Glover and their children, Alison and Lily; Kyle Glover and his children, Alivia, Koen and Kray; Kale (Nicole) Glover and their children, Kase and Kage; Jessica (Jeff) Larson and their child, William; Justin (Nancy) Dickmann and their children, Carter, Elijah and Harper; Leah (Lonnie) Egdorf and their child, Emberly; Ashley (Stephen) Pinkerton; one great-great granddaughter, Kayven Rettig; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, at the Warner Chapel, Spencer, Iowa.
