Elizabeth 'Betty' Holderman

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to the Guillain Barre Foundation or American Diabetes Foundation. Elizabeth 'Betty' Johnaphine Holderman, the daughter of Loran P. and Gilma J. (Morean) Huggins, was born October 10, 1921, in Dixon, Illinois. Her childhood years were spent in Dixon where she received her education. Betty married Donald Holderman on January 20, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. Following her marriage, they lived in Geneseo, Illinois, where she worked for Rock Island Arsenal for three years, and did alterations and sewing for many years. Following her husband's death on April 29, 1986, she moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1987 to be closer to her daughter. She was raised as a member of the Catholic Church. Betty was also involved in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as well as 4-H when her children were growing up. Betty passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa, on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son, John in 2005; two granddaughters, Sally Hagerty and Angela Holderman; and one son-in-law, Leland Hagerty. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Phyllis Hagerty of Spencer, IA; one son, Don Holderman of Branson, MO; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
