Elizabeth G. Beck, 58, formerly of Des Moines, died suddenly at her home near Wasilla, Alaska on July 7, 2007. Elizabeth was born December 21, 1948 in Nyack, New York, the daughter of Alexander G. and Jeanne (Starr) Park. She was a 1970 graduate of the University of Iowa and a 1972 graduate of Drake University Law School. Elizabeth was admitted to practice law in Alaska, Iowa, and Texas and had most recently been an attorney and section chief with the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. After law school Elizabeth married Joseph S. Beck on May 12, 1973, and they lived and practiced law in Iowa until 1990 when they moved to Dallas, Texas. In 1995 they moved to Washington, D.C. where they worked until 2005 when they left government service and moved to Alaska. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandson, Tony, her father, Alexander and her grandparents. Survivors include her husband Joseph S. Beck of Wasilla, Alaska and Greenville; a step-daughter, Lisa Ann Martin and grandson, Marcos of Brandon. Florida; her mother Jeanne Park of Durango, Colorado; mother-in-law Lucile Beck of Spencer; and two brothers: Robert Park of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Steven Park of Bethesda, Maryland.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 23, 2007 at the First Congregational Church in Spencer, Iowa.
