Betty was born and raised on a farm, surrounded by many relatives, and went to grade and high school at Valparaiso, NE. She met her future husband while working in Omaha during WWII where they married on May 13, 1944. After the war they settled in Spencer, IA, raising their family and eventually starting their own business Zenith Pictorial Advertising, dealing in aerial photography and specialty advertising. Red was the pilot-photographer-salesman while Betty ran the office and did oil paintings. The whole family was involved in dark room work. They sold the business and retired to Mesa, AZ, in 1995. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends and church community of the past 15 years in the Mesa/Phoenix area.
Betty was a gentle, loving person of deep faith and a great love of fun, making her a favorite companion for card games and gatherings. Known for her good sense of humor, she enjoyed playing practical jokes on family and friends. She loved to travel to see family spread all over the world and especially enjoyed a visit to her ancestors' villages in the Czech Republic. Her joy for life, her love of family and friends and her strong faith are her legacy to us all.
Through the mercy of God, may she rest in peace!
