Elizabeth Ries

Elizabeth June Ries, the daughter of William and Louise (Heinzman) Hill was born July 20, 1922 in Omaha, NE. Her childhood years were spent in the Omaha area, where she attended school and graduated in 1940. After school Elizabeth worked assembling Bombers during WWII. Elizabeth married Leonard Ries on June 1, 1946 in Omaha, NE. They moved to Waterloo, IA where she was a homemaker, until moving to Spencer in 2007. She enjoyed doing puzzles, crosswords, and sewing, which she made all of her own clothing. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. Elizabeth passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Martin Ries; 2 brothers, Bob and Bill Hill; and one sister. Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children, Ronald Ries, Linda (David) Mell, and Richard Ries, all of Spencer, IA; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
