Ella Louise Barman, the daughter of Bernhardt and Bertha (Centner) Philiph, was born December 2, 1911 on the family farm in Westport Township, Dickinson County, Iowa. She received her early education at the Center Country School and continued her schooling at Everly High school, graduating with the class of 1930. Following her schooling, she taught school for one year at a country school in Westport Township. She was employed as a waitress at Hammer's Restaurant in Spencer, Iowa for 16 years. Sally was employed as a salesperson at Cragins Ready To Wear for 12 years.
On December 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Samuel Mervin Barman at the Lutheran Parsonage in Jackson, MN. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, IA. She enjoyed flowers, gardening reading and music.
Sally passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel on April 9, 1983 and one sister, Mabel Petersen.
Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Laura Conner of Spencer; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am, Monday, April 19, 2010 at the First Engligh Lutheran Church in Spencer.
