Ellen Viola Meyer

Ellen Viola Brandt Meyer, daughter of Karin Larsdotter and Wilhelm Nilsson Brandt, was born March 1, 1919 in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm in the Cherokee area. Ellen married Elvie John Meyer on December 24, 1939 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Throughout their marriage they lived in the Holstein and Royal, Iowa communities where she was a homemaker and loving mother to their four children. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. She loved sewing and was throughout her life dedicated to keeping the grandchildren and great grandchildren in lovingly well-mended jeans. Mrs. Meyer passed away at the Nora Springs Care Center on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elvie; 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Edwin, Harold, Nels, Clara, and Martha and grandson Alain Jourdenais. She is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Wayne and Carol Johnson of Rockford, IA, Dick and Mary Ellen Tostenrud of Sioux Falls, SD and Ed and Barbara Jourdenais of Antioch, CA; 1 son and his wife, Robert and Lesley Meyer of Irving, TX, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
