Elsie Mae Brown, the daughter of Earnest Shelva and Sophie (Plagman) Slough, was born January 27, 1928, in Peterson, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Peterson area where she graduated from high school in 1944.
Elsie Mae received her teaching certificate from Western College and later went back and got her BA degree from Westmar College. She married Jimmie Lew Brown on November 29, 1946, in Peterson, IA, and they were blessed with 4 daughters, Karen Dardar, of Everly, IA, Lennace (Van) Tamplin, of Mountain Home AR, Maryana (Ron) Britt of Bailey, NC, and Gloria (Birney) Terrell, of Peterson, IA
Elsie Mae was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson, United Methodist Women, OAO Club and a charter member of Peterson Heritage. At the age of 16 she became the church organist and played for over 60 years. Elsie Mae taught Jr. High School in Peterson for 20 years. She also directed the bell choir and sang with the Ladies Trio. She enjoyed giving piano lessons, helping with the Peterson history books, and doing fancy work.
Elsie Mae passed away Saturday, November 27, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her husband, on February 17, 1999, her parents, an infant brother and sister, her sister, Ida Fae Feekes; and a son-in-law, Camile Dardar.
Left to cherish her memory are her 4 daughters and their husbands; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 brother-in-laws, Ted Feekes, of Peterson, IA, Gale (Pauline) Brown, of Cherokee, IA, Charles D. Brown, of Denver, CO, and Royce (Shirley) Brown, of Kingsley, IA, other relatives, and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, November 30, at the United Methodist Church in Peterson, at 11:00 A.M.

VISITATION
