Elvinah (Thurston) Davis, was born March 23, 1921 in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of Charles E. and Neenah (Bertelson) Thurston. Elvinah grew up in Spencer, Iowa and graduated from Spencer High School in 1938. After high school, she lived in Spencer and worked at the City Clerk’s office for over 10 years and later the Clay County Assessors.
Elvinah married Irvin Davis on August 29, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, Elvinah and Irvin moved to Mason City, Iowa where they made their home. Elvinah lived in Mason City over 60 years and later moved to Spencer, Iowa in 2010.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Moose Lodge and the V.F.W.
Elvinah and her husband enjoyed many special trips together throughout the years. They looked forward to the bus trips they took and the friends they met along the way. They enjoyed visiting each of the 50 states and many areas of Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Irvin Davis; twin brothers: Charles and Elmer Thurston and her parents.
Elvinah is survived by her niece, Laurie (Thurston) Sorrell at 312 9th Street S.W. Spencer, IA; her nephew, Blaine Thurston and wife, Judy of Spencer, IA; her nephew, Phil Thurston and wife, Sue of Tempe, AZ; her sister-in-law, Ruth Thurston of Spencer, IA; many friends and relatives.
