Elyjah James Nehman, the infant son of Rhys Nehman and Rebecca Updike passed away on Thursday, July 25 at the Spencer Hospital. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Glenda Updike, and great-grandfather, Robert Tesch; paternal great-grandfather, Dennis Gilleland, and great-uncle Tim Swalve; several great-aunts and great-uncles.

Left to cherish Elyjah’s memory are his parents, Rhys Nehman and Rebecca Updike of Spencer; one sister, Skylan; maternal grandparents, Roger and Brenda Updike of Spencer, paternal grandparents, Joan Nehman and Craig Tesch of Everly, IA; 3 aunts, Kimberly (John) Updike of Spencer, Jessica Updike (fiancé, Angelo) of Sioux City, IA, and Alexis (Gifford) Massie of North Platte, NE; 3 uncles, Eric (Sara) Nehman of Royal, IA, Caine Nehman of Royal, IA, and Nathan Tesch of Everly, IA; maternal great-grandparents, Roger Updike Sr. of Marcus, IA, Roger and Frances Swalve of Arnolds Park, IA, paternal great-grandparents, Monica Gilleland of Bartlesville, OK, Marlis Tesch of Everly, IA; 11 cousins, Tia, Starr, Jake, Rylee, Harper, Logan, Andyn, James, Zoey, Brexlee, and Malaki; many great-aunts; great-uncles; god-parents, Jason Mozena and Carissa Essick; other relatives; and many family friends.

SERVICES

Funeral services will take place 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 30, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
