The family has set up a memorial fund in his name and would appreciate
donating to the fund instead of flowers.
Emmet Eugene Doyle, the son of Joseph and Ann (Mahan) Doyle, was born June 23, 1945, in Ayrshire, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Ayrshire where he received his early education at Ayrshire Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Ayrshire Consolidated School in 1963. After his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967. After his military service he moved to Royal, Iowa.
Emmet married Margaret Munn on November 15, 1969, in Ayrshire. Following their marriage, they remained in Royal where he was the manager of Royal Telephone for 31 years. He also owned and operated Doyle Splicing Company. Emmet was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal for many years until its recent closing, and made rosaries for the first communion classes for 20 years. He was active in his community where he was on the Royal City Council for 12 years, a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed fishing, trapping and woodworking.
He passed away at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the age of 74. Emmet was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leo and Francis Doyle.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret of Royal, IA; two sons: Shawn and his wife, Shelly Doyle of Spirit Lake, IA, Stacy and his wife, Tricia Doyle of Hartley, IA; nine grandchildren: Dustin, Devin, Dylan and Daisie Doyle, Tilara Wilson, Tyler, Teagan, Tevin and Tristan Hills; three great-grandchildren: Braylee, Carter Doyle, Madalyn Cruse; one brother, Robert Doyle of Des Moines, IA; one sister, Rita Rezabek and husband, Charles of Emmetsburg, IA; other relatives and friends.
