Erma Lucille Bailey, the daughter of Bethuel and Myrtle (Harbeck) Chesley, was born June 13, 1913, in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent north of Peterson. Erma attended school and graduated from Peterson High School.
On November 30, 1930, Erma was united in marriage to Herbert Bailey in Cherokee, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived near Peterson where she was a homemaker.
Following the death of Herbert, Erma lived in Storm Lake, Alta, and most recently Sioux Rapids.
Erma was always proud that she was born on June 13, 1913. She weighed 13 lbs., and was her grandmother's 13th grandchild. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. In her free time, Erma enjoyed baking bread and sharing it with friends. She also loved flowers.
On March 15, 2009, Erma passed away at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Herbert Bailey in July of 1982.
Left to cherish her memory are several nieces; nephews; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Warner Funeral Home in Peterson.
