Ernest William Hoelterhoff, the son of Frank and Clara (Fremal) Hoelterhoff, was born on May 8, 1928, in Chicago, IL. Ernest spent his early years on a farm in Wisconsin. The family later moved to the suburbs of Chicago where he attended school and helped his father at their butcher shop and poultry and egg business. Ernest entered into the military on October 28, 1950, serving in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on October 24, 1952.
Ernest married Lois Jean Stuart on July 7, 1951, in Elmhurst, IL. Ernie and Lois lived in Franklin Park while Ernie was overseas in the service. The couple moved to Addison, IL, in 1956 where they ran a butter and egg farm. They moved to Spencer in 1972 where they owned and operated 20th Century Lanes until 1984. The couple retired to Terril in 2004. Ernest was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Abu Bekr Shriners, Spencer Shrine ATV Corp, American Legion in Terril and the Moose Lodge in Spencer.
Ernest passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank and one sister, "Ellie" Eleanor Johns.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois of Terril; four daughters: Charmayn Faber and her husband, David of Spencer, IA, Vicki Somers of Terril, IA, Nancy Ross of Holt, MO and Kathy Rouse and her husband, Scott of Terril, IA; 9 grandchildren; 6 great -grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Hoffler of San Antonio, TX; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present at that time at Warner Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening.
MUSIC
INTERMENT
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Terril, Iowa. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 432 of Terril.
