Esta Cleone Ott

December 3, 1918 — September 24, 2010

Esta Cleone Ott, the daughter of Walter and Ella (Schmidt) Ott, was born December 3, 1918 in Clay County, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Clay County, where she received her education at Summit Township country school near Spencer, Iowa. She later attended and graduated from Hartley High School. She later received her education in Sioux City to become a Registered Nurse. Esta entered the military on November 5, 1941, where she served her country with the U.S. Air Force during WWII. She continued to serve with the military until 1966, when she received her honorable discharge and retired from the Air Force achieving the rank of Major. After her retirement, she moved to Spencer, where she worked as a registered nurse at Spencer Hospital for 10 years, until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Esta was also a member of the Everett Boyles, Jr. Post #414 in Everly and the Society of Retired Air Force Nurses. She was also a member of the Woman's Bowling Association. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, reading, knitting, playing bridge and any other kinds of cards. Esta passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Inez Ott. Left to cherish her memory are her two brothers: Orlan Ott and his wife, Katherine "Kitty" and Dale Ott all of Waterloo, Iowa; 1 niece; seven nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly. A military flag presentation will conducted by Everett Boyles, Jr. - American Legion Post #414 of Everly, Iowa following the graveside services.
