Estelle Jane Handy, the daughter of Earl Ralph and Esther Irene Taylor Smith, was born November 2, 1933 in Dickens, Iowa. Estelle was raised on a farm near Ayrshire and received her early education and graduated from the Ayrshire High School. Estelle later furthered her education and attended college.
On November 25, 1950, Estelle married Junior E. Handy in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Langdon, California, Cherokee and then Spencer. Estelle worked at Domestic Violence Office for 6 years, Sunshine Center for 18 years and also as the bookkeeper for Handy Dandy and H&S Roofing. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting Angels, cooking, taking pictures, yodeling and most of all, family get togethers.
Estelle passed away on June 30, 2016 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 82. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tim and a grandson, Shane.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Junior of Spencer; her 3 children: Everette (Crystal) of Spencer, IA, Julie (Ron) Peters of Spencer, IA and Cindy (Greg) Hemrick of Fort Dodge, IA; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Keith (Betty) Smith and Earl Jr. Smith; one sister, Carol (Larry) Burtis; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
