Ethel Louise Dean

June 2, 1926 — September 5, 2009

The mother of Curtis Dean of Spencer. Ethel Dean, 83, of Spencer, Iowa and formerly of Wheatland and Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away on September 5, 2009 at her home. Services are Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 4:00pm at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with Pastor Wendy Van Tassell officiating. Ethel was born Ethel Davis on June 2, 1926 at her family's home in rural Lebanon, MO. As an adult, she moved to the Quad Cities where she lived and worked. She gave birth to a son Ronnie in 1953 and to a son Roger in 1958. On May 8, 1959 she married William "Bill" Dean in East Moline, and in 1964 son Curtis was born. In 1982 after 23 years of marriage, she lost her husband William after a bout with cancer. She continued to live in Clinton County until the late 1990's when she moved to Spencer, Iowa to be near her son Curtis and his family. Ethel will forever be remembered for her love of her children and her grandchildren. She was an avid fisherman who went fishing with her grandson Jordan just a few weeks ago. Ethel is survived by her sons Roger Dean and his wife Margie of Grand Mound and Curtis Dean and his wife Rhonda of Spencer; by grandchildren Elias Dean, Jamie Erps, Jessica Dean, Christopher Dean, Jordan Dean, Bailey Dean, Ronnie Lee Dean, and Rhonda Dean; and by three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, several brothers and sisters, her husband William, and her son Ronnie.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 4:00 P.M., Thursday, September 10, 2009 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Wheatland, Iowa.
