Eva Vena Schoorman, the daughter of Eitie and Bielda Meyer Winterboer, was born March 13, 1911 near Everly, Iowa. She was raised in Clay County and attended rural school in Waterford Township. Later she attended Everly High School and graduated from Spencer High School in 1929.
Following her schooling, Eva taught Country Schools until 1932 when she married John Carl Schoorman in Spencer, Iowa. They worked for farmers in the Spencer area and started farming for themselves in 1936. In 1942, they moved to the home place west of Fostoria where they lived for 52 years. After John's death, she moved to Spencer. She has been a member of the First Congregational Church since 1930 and had attended Guild. She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, gardening and flowers.
Mrs. Schoorman passed away on April 20, 2007 at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her daughter, Karen; one granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Wolthuis; three sisters, Johanna, Martha and Louise; one brother Harm.
She is survived by her son, Frank Schoorman and his wife, Carol of Fostoria, Iowa; two grandchildren, Mike Wolthuis and his wife, Christy of Milford, IA and Rana DeBoer and her husband, Clint of Sioux Falls, SD; three great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Richard Wolthuis of Milford, IA; one sister, Irene Yeager and her husband, Harold of LaGrange, TX; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the First Congregational Church in Spencer, Iowa.
