Evelyn Jean Simonson, the daughter of Lewis and Angie Aaron was born on April 28, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was known as “Dolly” by her four sisters.
Mom’s true happiness began when she met Martin Carl Simonson of Sioux Rapids, IA. Martin made Evelyn’s dream of home and family come true when they married on November 19, 1948. After their marriage they lived a short time in a home south of Sioux Rapids not far from her beloved mother and father-in-law, Maynard and Ida Simonson.
After the birth of daughters: Linda Jean and Vicky Lynn, they moved to a farm just outside of Linn Grove, IA up on Hill Road, which the family refers to as Heaven’s Road, as the memories made there were so happy and unforgettable. Her sons: Stanley Martin and Steven Carl were born shortly after that move.
Evelyn loved her church, First Lutheran and Pastor Tonna of Sioux Rapids. She was a member of the church choir, secretary of the Ladies Aide and participated in other groups wherever and whenever needed. She could be depended on to serve when asked.
Friends and family knew she would be there whenever possible. Her children remember the answer “Yes, OK” to requests far more often than the answer “No”.
Mom’s happy-ending dream is for her family to meet again on Heaven’s Road one day when the Lord permits.
Evelyn passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 90 where she was very well cared for.
