Evelyn May Christensen Brees

Evelyn Mae Christensen, the daughter of Levi and Mary Newcomb Reed, was born March 31, 1914 in Peterson, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Peterson, where she received her education, graduating from Peterson High School. Evelyn married Allen Christensen on June 21, 1941 in Peterson, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Chicago, Illinois where she worked for Bell Laboratory as an executive for 35 years. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. Allen passed away in 1993. Evelyn married Wilbur Brees on November 21, 1996 in Spencer, Iowa. Following the marriage, they lived in Highlands in Spencer. She passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; two sisters: Mary Lohner and Frances Snyder and one brother, Ralph Reed. Left to cherish her memory are one brother, Robert Reed and his wife, Sandra of Milford, IA; one sister, Shirley Friedrichsen and her husband, Lloyd of Peterson, IA; other relatives and many friends.
