Everett Raymond Hintz, the son of Clarence and Viola Schott Hintz, was born August 2, 1933, in Everly, IA. His childhood years were spent in Everly where he received his education, graduating from Everly High School in 1952. He entered the military on May 6, 1953, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on May 2, 1955. Following his discharge, he returned to Everly where he worked for LeRoy Dirks at Dirks Repair as a mechanic.
Everett married Verla Lou Grapenthin on March 31, 1956, in Sutherland, IA. Following their marriage, he worked for Topsoil Schoenewe driving a fertilizer truck for forty years until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked part-time in the meat department at Hy-Vee Food Store in Spencer. Everett loved to fish and make things for the grandchildren out of wood. He loved to go camping at their cottage at Silver Lake. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved to watch his grandson play ball.
Everett passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, October 24, 2008, at the age of 75. His parents preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Verla Lou of Everly, IA; two daughters and their husbands: Rita and Randal Newkirk of Everly, IA, and LuCinda and Duane Wilson of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Melissa, Rachel, Chelsey, Garrick and Sonya; three great-grandchildren: Christian, Kaylee and Bryce; one brother, George Hintz of Everly, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Everly.
