Everon Honken

Everon Theodore Honken, the son of Wilbert and Elizabeth (Vierhout) Honken, was born January 19, 1943, in Edna, IA. His childhood years were spent in Edna where he attended Liberal #4 Country School and later attended and graduated from George High School. On June 12, 1964, Everon was united in marriage to Marilyn Geerdes at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. Following their wedding the couple lived in Little Rock and Everon worked at a body shop in Rock Rapids. The couple then moved to Sibley, IA. He worked at Thermogas in both Sibley and Hartley for a total of 27 years. Until his retirement in January of 2009 he was the owner/operator of Hartley Plumbing and Heating. Everon was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley and also a volunteer fireman for the Sibley and Hartley communities. In his younger years Everon enjoyed bowling and playing baseball. He enjoyed fishing, puzzles, playing solitaire, spending time at the lake, watching NASCAR, and wrestling, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his faithful family dog, Barkley. On March 19, 2009, Everon passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hartley at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Shane Honken; and three nephews. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn Honken of Hartley, IA; two sons and their spouses: Scott (Amy) Honken of Hartley, IA, and Shawn (Dena) Honken and his two grandsons, Grant and Eli, all of Hartley, IA; one sister, Alvina ( Darrell) (Honken) Borchers of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Willie (Gladys) Honken of Mission, TX; as well as other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m., Monday, March 23, 2009, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley.

VISITATION
Visitation with the family will be from 2:00-5:00p.m., Sunday afternoon at the Warner Funeral Home in Hartley.

INTERMENT
