Faye Minerva Beck

April 6, 1916 — October 9, 2016

Faye Minerva (Whitford) Beck was born April 6, 1916 on a farm northwest of Ruthven, IA in Palo Alto County. Faye was the fifth daughter born, followed by two sons, totaling seven children born to Charles Henry and Grace Ann (Brown) Whitford. Faye attended Lake Center School. Faye was united in marriage to John Henry Beck on March 31, 1934. To this union, four children were born, three sons and one daughter. In 1946, John and Faye moved to the Adolph Kracht farm south of Peterson, where they farmed. They later moved and then returned to the same farm in the early 1960's. They retired from farming and moved to Peterson in 1976. John and Faye were married 61 years when John passed away May 8, 1995. She enjoyed music and played the organ by ear, not using sheet music. She also had a 'green thumb' and raised beautiful African Violets. Faye loved her family, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved to have her family visit. Family members often bought her a Whopper from Burger King which she enjoyed. Her favorite beverage, she drank daily, was Coca-Cola. Faye lived in her own home until the day after her 100th birthday. She moved to Accura Healthcare in Cherokee on April 7, 2016, and passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; granddaughter, Suzanne Jordahl; grandson, Ronnie Rassel; brothers: Raymond Whitford and Eugene Whitford; sisters Edith Eggleston and Lena Rosewall at age 105, Mabel Smith at age 103 and Rena Hanson at age 107.
