Fern Catherine Reese

     Fern Catherine Reese, the daughter of Horace and Edith (Stroman) Bruns, was born March 11, 1925 in Granville, Iowa.  Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Granville, Iowa, where she received her education at Paullina Schools and later moved to Everly, where she graduated from Everly High School.

     Fern married Wayne Reese on January 10, 1945 in Spencer, Iowa after meeting him at a dance.  They moved to Peterson, Iowa, where they farmed throughout their life.  She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and working around the farm.  Fern spent a lot of time in the boat fishing with Wayne in the summers, travelling as often as possible in their RV.  She was unmatched in the kitchen and was happiest when she was hosting the entire family for dinners.

     She passed away at her home in Peterson on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the age of 93 surrounded by family.  Fern was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne in 2011 and a grandson, Christopher Kummerfeld.

     Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Gail and her husband, Richard Kummerfeld of Rockwell City, IA and Connie Harmon of Fonda, IA; 4 grandchildren: Kimberly Kummerfeld of Peterson, IA, Lisa (Ohrtman) Peterson of Sioux City  IA, Teresa (Ohrtman) Gardner of Fonda, IA, and Nicholas Ohrtman of Peterson, IA:  10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
