Florence Ann Asmussen

November 21, 1926 — February 24, 2010

Florence Ann Asmussen, the daughter of David John and Frances Mary (Campbell) Walsh, was born November 21, 1926 in Boston, MA. Her childhood years were spent in Boston, MA, where she received her education. Florence married Dale Asmussen on September 8, 1950, in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage, they farmed in Royal for many years. She was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal, IA, where she was a past president of the altar society. Florence was a five foot dynamo who embraced life to its fullest. An avid card player, she never met a 'potty' ('party' for those of you who didn't speak Bostonian) she didn't want to host. As a sophomore in parochial school, she was crowned May Queen, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Always thoughtful and kind, generous and loving, she will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Florence passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, IA, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale on October 22, 1989; her son, Paul Asmussen on January 24, 2002; and three sisters: Barbara Walsh, Grace Lord and Frances Cale. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Bernardene Lindquist of Brooklyn Center, MN, Pamela Asmussen of Storm Lake, IA and Peter Asmussen of Royal, IA; other relatives and many friends.
