Florence "Fluff" Julia Ihry

Florence “Fluff” Julia Ihry, the daughter of Francis and Angeline (Donovan) Sweeney, was born February 14, 1928, in Sutherland, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Sutherland where she received her education, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1946, as Valedictorian. After her schooling, she continued her education at Briar Cliff College for two years.

Fluff married John “Jack” Ihry on January 14, 1950. Following their marriage, they lived in Royal for five years before moving to their homeplace west of Royal where they lived for many years and raised their family. They moved to Royal in 1990. Fluff was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. She played organ at the church for years in Sutherland and Royal. Fluff was Mayor of Royal, Iowa, for many years.

She passed away at Aspire of Sutherland Care Center on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of 93. Fluff was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; son, Jeffrey; five siblings: Marjorie Ramsey, Paul Sweeney, Cathy Warm, Dorothy Sweeney, Frances in infancy.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jane (Tom) Senst of Pine Island, FL; Jill (Lane) Johnson of Sioux City, IA; Joni (Terry) Murphy of Clermont, FL; Juli Kwikkel of Storm Lake, IA; Jeri (Kevin) Boeve of Rock Valley, IA; Joye (Jim) Noonan of Bondurant, IA; Jason Ihry of North Branch, MN; daughter-in-law Angela Ihry of West Des Moines, IA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

SERVICES

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

Following the services at the church there will be a lunch served in the church hall before going to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, A memorial fund has been estabished in Fluff's name.

VISITATION

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 - 7:00p.m., Monday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

There will be a Catholic Rosary Service at 4:00p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
