     Floyd Kenneth Nielsen, 93, of Holmen,WI, formerly of Cedar Falls and Spencer, IA, passed away at the Riverside Transitional Care Center in La Crosse, WI, on Friday, November 29th, 2019. 

     Floyd Kenneth Nielsen, the son of Axel Walter and Anna Margrethe (Petersen) Nielsen, was born May 14th, 1926, in Jackson, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Union State Line Lutheran Church in Petersburg, MN. Floyd attended grade school in Petersburg Consolidated School, later graduating from Jackson High School in 1944. He attended the University of Minnesota for a short time before joining the Army in 1946, serving in Germany and France.

     Floyd was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Breneman in 1946 in Mankato, MN. Floyd and his family farmed near Bertha, MN, until he secured employment with Northrup King Seed Company in 1956 and relocated to Hartley, IA. In 1963 he was promoted to the position of District Sales Manager, working from Northrup King's office in  Waterloo, IA. Floyd and Jean lived in Cedar Falls, IA, until 1980 when they moved to Spencer, IA, until his retirement in 1985. After Jean's death in 2007, Floyd moved to Holmen, WI, to be near family. He made many friends at Bethany Heights Assisted Living and Hearten House III.

     Floyd was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls and Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Kiwanis, and Elks Club. During the winter months, Floyd and Jean lived in Corpus Christi, TX, making beautiful memories. Floyd was proud of his Danish heritage and large family. He enjoyed travel, golf, fishing, flying kites, dancing, flower gardening, playing cards, and birding.

     He is survived by his three children, Thomas (Jane) Nielsen of Dubuque, IA; Rebecca (Lee) Okerlund of Northwood, IA; and Nancy (Todd) Brown of Denver, N.C. Also, nine grandchildren, Paul Nielsen, Matt Nielsen, Sheila Kaplan, Mark Nielsen, Sarah Davis, Adam Okerlund, Dana Gissal, Andrew Brown, and Molly Brown; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Muir of Corvallis, MT; one sister-in-law Arlene Nielsen of Jackson, MN; brother-in-law James Breneman of Kalamazoo, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

     Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, his sisters Olga Gorden, Eleanor Zick, and Violet Clymer; his brothers Lawrence, Arthur, Howard, George, and Donald. His brothers-in-law Calvin Gordon, Ray Clymer, John Zick, Alan Muir, and Wayne Breneman; sisters-in-law Eileen Nielsen, Rosella Nielsen, Sena Nielsen, Dolly Nielsen, Janet Breneman, and Mary Jo Breneman.

     Memorials in Floyd's name will be directed to the Gundersen Medical Foundation at

gundersenhealth.org/gratitude.

SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Warner Chapel in Spencer.
