Floyd Milton Petersen, the son of Jens Peter Petersen and Florence Maccabee Petersen, was born November 17, 1919, in Royal, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Royal where he received his education.
On August 25, 1946, Floyd married Lois Jipson in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in the Royal area where they began farming. In the early 1950's, they moved to the Trimello Farm where they made their home for many years until retiring to Royal. Floyd was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Royal where he was on the church board and helped with many other church activities. He enjoyed collecting guns and was a member of the Royal Gun Club for many years. Floyd enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed their vacations together.
Floyd passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Avah Hepworth; and his wife, Lois on September 13, 2005.
Left to cherish his memory are one son, Rodney Petersen and his wife, Anita of Hartley, IA; three daughters: Mary Jean Petersen of Omaha, NE, Pam McBride and her husband, Duane of Ogallala, NE, and Janette Petersen of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren: Brady Petersen, Christopher Petersen, Aaron McBride and Shaina McBride; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
