Frances Marie Munden, the daughter of James and Alice (Bradley) Mahan, was born August 6, 1931, in Palo Alto County, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Graettinger, Iowa, where she attended country school and later Graettinger Public schools.
Frances married George William Munden on November 27, 1950, in Graettinger, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Graettinger before moving to the Royal, Iowa community in 1962. She loved her life as a wife and mother and enjoyed her work as the fun Salad Bar lady at The Prime Rib for 18 years. Frances was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. She enjoyed shopping, collecting teapots, having lunch with the girls and attending Cheryl Buren's garden parties.
Frances passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her husband, George on July 7, 1983.
Left to cherish her memory are five sons: James and his wife, Kristy Munden of Grand Island, NE, Roger Munden and John Munden both of Royal, IA, Mark and his wife, Lois Munden of Lorimer, IA, and Doug and is wife, Debbie Munden of Royal, IA; four daughters and their husbands: Georgia and Jeff Kephart of Royal, IA, Jennifer and Don Rettig of Hadar, NE, Debra and Mark Foster of Spencer, IA, and Robyn and Mark Rettig of Niobrara, NE; 9 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 8 siblings: Evelyn Peterson, Bernice Weber, Alice Jo Gibson, Lois Weber, James Mahan, Donnie Mahan, Leo Mahan and Dottie Mahan; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
