Francis Eugene Vodraska

Francis Eugene Vodraska, the son of Louis and Evelyn (Kelsey) Vodraska was born March 9, 1938, in Pocahontas, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Pocahontas area. Following his schooling, Francis helped his parents on the farm. Francis married Rita Mae Scheier on May 20, 1961, in Varina. Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their first home in Curlew, Iowa, where they lived and worked on the farm and raised four boys. Rita passed away in 1970. Francis then moved to the Spencer, Iowa, in 1970 with the boys. He worked for the Spencer City Sanitation until his retirement. Francis loved walking, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Eagles Club. Francis passed away suddenly in his sleep Tuesday evening, November 3, 2015, at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rita in 1970; one son, Ricky; and one sister, Marcella. Left to cherish his memory are his sons; Kevin (Jackie) of Spencer, Iowa, and their five children: Amanda Jo, Keith, Kimberly, Jacob and Kevin Jr. and five great-grandchildren; Brian (Gina) of Aurora, Colorado and their two children, Cassandra and Zachary; and Douglas and girlfriend, Sherry Miller of Spencer, Iowa, and one child, Holly; three brothers: Thomas, Larry, and Joe Vodraska; three sisters: Bernadine Reis, Pat Jensen, and Katherine Fitzgerald; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and MANY friends.
