Francis "Frank" Joseph John Wekony, the son of Michael Joseph and Marie Burke Wekony, was born February 3, 1935 in Chicago, IL. His childhood years were spent in Chicago where he received his early education. Frank enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He then re-enlisted in 1962 and served until 1965,when he was honorably discharged as Specialist E 5 Artillery.
Frank married Janice Lou Muckler Taylor on January 11, 1964, in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer. Frank worked until his retirement in 2000. Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Frank passed away on May 29, 2009 at his home in Spencer at the age of 74. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice and one daughter, Vicky Pettit.
He is survived by two sons: Billy Joe Wekony and his wife, Linda of Everly, IA and David Wekony of Spencer, IA; two daughters: Janis Hinkey and her husband, Ross of Melvin, IA and Jennifer Wekony of Sioux Rapids, IA; several grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Graveside Services will take place at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
