Francis Roy Phillips

Francis Roy Phillips, the son of Burt and Opal (McBride) Phillips, was born December 3, 1923, in Rembrandt, IA. He received his education in Laurens, graduating from Laurens High School in 1942. After graduation Francis enlisted in the military, joining the 11th Airborne 1st Parachute Division. He served in the Pacific, New Guinea, and the Philippines. After his honorable discharge Francis worked as a mechanic in Laurens, IA. He then moved to Sioux Rapids where he owned and operated a Texaco gas station. He was also a district manager for AAA in Spencer, IA for 25 years. After retiring he managed Soddy's Place in Lake Park, IA. He then moved to Everly, IA for the last 8 years. Francis enjoyed listening to music, riding his scooter, camping, boating, and fishing. Francis passed away on September 27, at his home in Everly, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Marjorie. Left to cherish his memory are his 2 daughters, Glenna Wilson and Nikki (Al) Cozart, both of Youngstown, OH; a stepdaughter, Patricia Twait, of Emmetsburg, IA; 5 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bernard Phillips of California; 2 sister, Pat Shank of Portland, OR and Sally Mitchell, of Lake Park, IA; other relatives, and many friends.
SERVICES
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday October 1, at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly, IA.
