Frank Howard Kruse, the son of Ivan and Ruby (DeMar) Kruse, was born October 31, 1930 in the Peterson area of Clay County, Iowa. He attended country schools for his early education and later graduated from Royal Consolidated High School in 1949. After enlisting in the U.S. Navy, he served for 4 years as a radarman. He was assigned to the destroyer escort LeRay Wilson, operating in the Pacific Ocean. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to farming on his family farm.
Frank married Marilyn Hughes of Spencer, Iowa in 1960 and they began their life together in O'Brien County, where he continued farming until 2010, when they moved to Spencer.
He passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the age of 81. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Billy.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 52 years, Marilyn; 2 daughters: Kathleen and her husband, Dan Swanson of South St. Paul, MN and Sue and her husband, Roy Higgins of Oakley, CA; three sons: Stuart of Spirit Lake, IA, Ned of Sutherland, IA and Ben of Spencer; also included are six grandchildren; two brothers: Ivan of Spencer, IA and Paul of Peterson, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
