Frank LeRoy Huss, the son of Edward and Charlotte Deegan Huss, was born in Royal, Iowa on September 19, 1923. Frank was raised on a farm south of Everly and attended country school, Alton Boy's School and later graduated from Everly High School. Frank then attended and graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, IA. Frank entered the U.S. Navy Air Corps where he was a primary flight instructor with a pilot certificate. He was awarded the Victory Ribbon and the American Theatre Ribbon during W.W. II and served until his honorable discharge.
On September 19, 1948, Frank married Thyre Georgia (Gee Gee) Hamilton in Dubuque, IA and following their marriage, they moved to Joliet, IL where he worked for Caterpillar Company for three years before moving to Iowa to farm outside of Royal. While living in Royal, Frank was very active at the St. Louis Catholic Church where he served on the Board for many years and was a Knight of Columbus. He also was a member of the National Farmers Organization and the American Legion Goodwin Post #248 in Royal, Iowa.
Frank was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much. He also loved to sing and participated in his college and church choirs. He was a prolific reader after retirement and loved playing cards and going on Heritage Club trips.
Mr. Huss passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer on January 22, 2010, at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gee Gee on September 25, 1999; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his eleven children: Terry Gruhn (Gale) of Spencer, IA, Cliff (Jane) Huss of Malabar, FL, Susie Dunagan (Dave) of Altoona, IA; Tom Huss (Zona) of Chino Valley, AZ, Mike Huss (Jean) of Grimes, IA, Mark Huss (LuAnn ) of Boone, IA, Nancy Roberts of Alamogordo, NM, Jim Huss (Kim) of Okoboji, IA, Frankie Huss (Kris) of Royal, IA, Jody Hicks (Tim) of Roland, IA and Robyn Huss of Ames, IA; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Lohmeier of Ida Grove, IA; brother: Howard Huss of Westminster, CO; sisters-in-law, Elma Huss of Marshalltown, IA and Mary Ann Huss of Arizona; brother-in-law, Sy Rodgers of Dakota Dunes, SD; as well as other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, Iowa.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 5:00 p.m. and a Vigil service will be held at 5:30 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening.
