Frank Steven Sykora, the son of Albert and Katherine (Miller) Sykora was born May 7, 1947 in Iowa City, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Des Moines, IA area, where he attended school, and graduated from East Des Moines High School. He received his accounting degree from Iowa Lakes Community College.
Frank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War until his Honorable Discharge in 1969. He returned to Des Moines for a few years, before moving to Ruthven, IA in 1989 and then Spencer, IA in 2011. He worked at Hardee’s in Spencer for 28 years until his retirement.
Frank enjoyed going to school, learning new things, going for walks, reading, playing video games, and watching the History Channel.
Frank passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2010 at his home at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-day, Ralph Darnall; and 3 brothers, William Tholl, James Sykora, and Thomas Darnall.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister-in-law Robin Darnell of Ruthven, IA; other relatives; and friends.
