Frederick Melvin Exner, the son of Frederick and Irene Krogh Exner, was born January 16, 1933 in Weedsport, NY. His childhood years were spent in Weedsport, NY, where he received his education, graduating from Weedsport High School in 1951. Following his schooling, he worked in Weedsport and later Auburn, NY. Later, he traveled throughout the U.S. and worked until moving to Royal, Iowa, where he met his future wife.
Fred married Emma Deman on May 16, 1983 in Peterson, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Peterson and later, Spencer, Iowa, before settling in Peterson, where he resided at the time of his death. He worked for Jones Transfer and "The Electrick Company". Following his retirement, he worked part time for Helen's Laundry. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson. Fred was also an avid sports fan.
Fred passed away at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack; a sister, Helen & his father and mother -in-law, Frank and Alice Deman.
He is survived by his wife, Emma of Peterson; their children: Tim & Trish Roberts of Spencer; Anthony Roberts of Winterset, IA, Troy & Emerald Roberts of Sheffield, IA, Tracy & Randy Schultz of Peterson, IA & Penny Exner of New York; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sister-in-laws: Josie Exner of Auburn, NY and Fran & her husband, Duane Popp of Dayton, IA; a brother-in-law, Frank Deman of Peterson, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Peterson.
