Freida A. Garms

Freida Ann Garms, was born on December 13, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri to Grover T. and Sarah Ruth (Graham) Dietzen. Her childhood years were spent in the Chattanooga, TN area where she attended Central High School. Freida was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on July 17, 1949. Following high school Freida was employed by Delta Airlines in Chicago, IL where she met Richard Garms. On March 2, 1957, Freida was united in marriage to Dick at Woodland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. Following their marriage they settled in Royal, IA. They were blessed with two children: David and Carla. Freida was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal where she was the organist. Throughout her life she continued to play organ at all the churches she was a member of. Freida also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, golf, bowling, and crossword puzzles. Freida passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Arbor Oaks Assisted Living in Andover, MN, at the age of 78. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 2002, sister, Thelda Frey, and brother, Tommy Dietzen. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Kris), of Braham, MN, and Carla (Eric) of Andover, MN; ten grandchildren: Whitney, Ben, Taylor, Leesha, Haley, Greta, Sam, Jayme, Rachel and Caleb; brother-in-law, Tom Frey; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
