Gale Eugene Igou, the son of Glenn and Elva Daldorf Igou, was born October 21, 1944, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Northwest Iowa where he received his education. Following his schooling, Gale entered the United States Airforce in 1963 and served until his Honorable discharge in 1967.
Gale married Sandra Jean Roelofsen on August 11, 1965, in Spirit Lake, IA. Following their marriage, they were stationed in Cheyenne, WY. After his discharge, they moved to Spirit Lake, until 1969 when they moved to Spencer and bought their forever home in March of 1971. Gale worked at Gambles until they closed in 1982. He then went to work at AAA June of 1986 until 2002 and then Kallin-Johnson Monument Company in Fort Dodge. He later worked at Village West as their night auditor and most recently for the railroad picking up people and driving them to the hotels. He enjoyed doing this and being able to talk to everyone he picked up.
Gale enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone he met. He always looked forward to coffee with his friends at Family Table. Gale was an active member of the VFW and American Legion.
He passed away at the Spencer Hospital on March 22, 2025, at the age of 80. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 48 years, Sandi in 2013; brother, Ronnie; sisters: Joyce (Bernard) Bond and Glenda (Roger) Updike; brother-in-law, Dean Sleik.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Steve (Teresa) Igou of Buckeye, AZ; daughters: Jamie (Aaron) Carpenter of Spencer, IA and Jenni (Wade) Bastman of Greenville, IA; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Sleik of Iron Mountain, MI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
