Gaylen Ray Wolthuis, the son of George and Erma (Simpson) Wolthuis was born on July 6, 1953 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Everly, IA area, where he attended Everly schools, graduating from Everly High School in 1971.
Gaylen went to work helping several farmers, he also worked construction for C.F. Paulsen. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and D&T Insulation, before working for Tecton in Spencer for the last 26 years.
Gaylen enjoyed his "toys", he liked riding 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles. He played the guitar and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Gaylen passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the age of 61 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his 2 children, Nathaniel (Chelsea Knephoff) Wolthuis of Everly, IA and Coty Mae (Matthew Trierweiler) Wolthuis of Greenville, IA; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Larry (Nancy) Wolthuis of Mexico, MO, Keith (Rene) Wolthuis of Ivy Bend, MO, and Steven (Tyra) Wolthuis of Georgetown, TX; other relatives; and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 26, at the Warner Funeral Chapel in Spencer.
