Gaylord Lyle Vogt, the son of William Lyle and Elna Puck Vogt, was born March 9, 1932 in Moneta, Iowa. He grew up in Spencer, Iowa, graduating from Spencer High School in 1949. He attended college for two years and then served four years in the United States Navy.
Gaylord married Donna Valdahl on June 28, 1956 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer, where he worked as a city letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, until his retirement in 1990. Gaylord enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards. He entered Longhouse Residence in September of 2001. Gaylord attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
Mr. Vogt passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna of Spencer; his three children: Thomas Vogt and his wife, Melanie of Ft. Dodge, IA, Julie Jindrich and her husband, Larry of McCall, Idaho and Joe Vogt and his wife, Karen of Lees Summit, MO; six grandchildren; one brother, Bob Vogt and his wife, Kris of Sioux City, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
