George Elliott Marks

July 5, 1935 — July 16, 2010

George Elliott Marks the son of Robert and Dixie (Elliott) Marks, was born on July 5, 1935 in Manistique, MI. His early childhood years were spent in Michigan where he also received his early education.After graduation , George moved to Spencer where he attended the Spencer School of Business, studying accounting. George married Shirley Werts on September 25, 1958 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, Iowa City and in Indiana, before returning back to Spencer in 2004. George worked in the hotel business most of his life, doing accounting and general office work. George was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses here in Spencer and enjoyed teaching the Bible. He also liked to exercise. George passed away on July 16, 2010 in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley of Spencer; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
