Geri's wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Geraldine Ann Bentley, the daughter of Ambrose and Ruby (McKeegan) Wehr, was born on November 8, 1933 in Portsmouth, IA. She was raised and received her early education there attending and graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Geri married Lyle Ingwersen on August 7, 1952. Following their marriage, he enlisted into the military and she followed him to Virginia and then California. After his time in the service, they stayed in California and then moved to Oregon and eventually settling back to Iowa in the late 60’s to care for their family. Geri took over her mom’s variety store in Portsmouth. In 1975, Lyle suddenly passed away.
On May 26, 1978, she married Russell Bentley and they lived in Albert City, IA until 1981. They then moved to Washington, where Russell worked maintenance at IPB and then moved to Liberal, KS where he worked for National Beef for several years. Geri sold Avon while living there. After his retirement, they managed a storage unit until 2015, when they moved back to Northwest Iowa.
She enjoyed doing crossword books, playing handheld games and listening to the music of Daniel O’Donnell an Irish Tenor, but most of all she just enjoyed being at home.
Geri passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Northshire Residence at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her 2 husbands and her brother, Verl Wehr.
