Gertrude Ethel Sutherland

May 19, 1922 — July 8, 2012

Gertrude E. "Trudy" Sutherland, the daughter of Charles and Sophia (Miller) Kiley, was born on July 19, 1922 in Dickens, IA. She received her early education at Brown Country School near Clinton, IA and then later moving to Decatur, IL. The family then moved back to Dickens where she finished her education graduating from Dickens High School in 1941. Trudy moved back to Illinois, near Chicago following high school and worked for Ameritech, a telephone office for 28 years. In 1982, she returned to Dickens, where she has lived until entering St. Luke Lutheran Home. Trudy was a member of the Dickens Community Club, Dickens American Legion Auxiliary and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Trudy also enjoyed crocheting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Trudy passed away on July 8, 2012, at the St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons:, William and Richard; one great-grandson; two sisters: and one brother. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jerry and his wife, Joannie of Ruthven, IA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Larry Kiley and his wife, Joyce of Platteville, CO and Edwin Kiley and his wife, Beverly of Dunedin, FL; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 12noon on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
