Gladys Dail Moeller

Gladys Dail Moeller was born June 29, 1918 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to LeRoy Ellard Simpson and Elizabeth Mary Shoemaker Simpson. She graduated from the eighth grade in Coon Rapids, IA and from Everly High School in 1936. She attended College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and taught school in Westport Township for 2 years. Gladys married Art Moeller on May 28, 1938 in Storm Lake, Iowa. They lived near Peterson, Iowa for a short time and Art worked on the farm for Leon Clark. After his father's death, they moved to the Moeller farm west of Everly, where they lived all their married life. Gladys was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Go Getter's Club, long time member of the Farm Bureau and the Everly Kitchen Band. Art and Gladys were crowned King and Queen of the Everly Centennial in 1984, and had the pleasure of celebrating 50 years together. After Art's death in 1988, Gladys stayed on the farm 2 more years and then moved to Everly in 1990. In recent years, she enjoyed getting together with her Red Hat Friends as well as decorating for the holidays. Her biggest loves were her grandchildren and great grandchildren and working in her flower gardens. She sewed and quilted many quilts, and was a cake decorator many years. Gladys passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on Tuesday, February 17, 2016 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; one son, Ronny; her granddaughter, Karen Eppard; a great grandson, Thomas Knudtson; three half- brothers and two half-sisters. Gladys is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands: Cheryl (David) Whade of Milford and Rebecca 'Becky' (Don) Brockmann of Hartley; one daughter-in-law, Willa Mae (Ronny) Moeller of Spirit Lake; 8 grandchildren: Nancy (Don) Knudtson, Jeffrey (Melodee) Moeller, Eric Eppard, Jill (Terry) Simpson, Faye Whade, Brian (Jackie) Whade, Brenda (Dennis) Bracewell, Julie Brockmann, Sharon Brockmann; 8 great grandchildren: Joe and Emma Eppard, Sara, Laura, Ryan and Megan Knudtson, Nathaniel Simpson and Brock Bracewell; 1 half-sister, Joyce Chrestiansen of Temple, TX; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
